Reputation

A lot of rumors started about wherther she was a man or a women because she acts and looks like a man. There is a folk tale about it and resent research says that Elizabeth was a female when she was born but later she died at the age of 10.According to the ledged, sometime between 1543-1544, Princess Elizabeth was sent to Overcoat House in Bisley, so she won’t get infected by the plague. However, unfortunately, the ten year old Elizabeth fell ill. While Princess Elizabeth was ill, her governess got a word that King Henry IV, her father and the king is coming to see her favorite daughter. As the servants prepare for the visit of the king, Princess Elizabeth dies. The servants and Elizabeth’s governess got scared; King Henry IV was famous for his short temper, and beheading people. Fearing for her life, the governess searched the town for a girl that looks and is the same age as Princess Elizabeth, and tells the king at a later date. She searched the whole town, but she couldn’t find anybody. Except for a little boy around 10 years old, with red hair, who was a playmate of the princess. In fear, she dressed him in to one of the princess’s dresses, and the lie began. Since the king doesn’t visit his daughter much, he didn’t notice anything at all. The plan worked so well that the governess decided not to tell the truth and the body of Elizabeth remained in the garden for over 300 years. Recently, the Reverend Thomas Keble found remains of a girl’s body in a stone coffin with Tudor family clothes. There is some proof that this legend is true but not for sure.
