Personal Life:

Sandro Botticelli didn’t get married because he had a strong belief that getting married was a nightmare for him and many other people. However, he had a love for a woman named Simonetta Vespucci. She was a married noblewoman which is a reason why Sandro’s love was not returned by her. There were rumors going around about that Simonetta was a model for The Birth of Venus, and that she also was shown repeatedly through Sandro Botticelli’s paintings. Simonetta died at a young age around 30-35. Sandro asked that he wanted to be buried by her side right next to her whenever she died, and that request of his was obeyed and he was buried by her feet when he died in the year of 1510. They were both buried in the Church of Ognissanti in Florence, Italy. Another fact is that a man named Jacques Mesnil who is a journalist was looking through an history article and he discovered that when Sandro Botticelli was at the age of 58, there were charges filed against him for sodomy (sexual assault). Eventually the charges were dropped off him later on. Sandro Botticelli had a very interesting life, and it was very unique.

Accomplishments:

Sandro Botticelli was taught many art styles and techniques by Filippo Lippi, a very famous artist as well. At the age of 15, he had his own workshop filled with art, and there was where his career really kicked off. When the Medici’s heard of him, and once they saw his art, there were like, “We must hire him to work for us.” Botticelli gained more good reputation when he started working for the Medici’s. At some point the Medici’s assigned him and other artists to fresco some walls of the Sistine Chapel.

Sandro Botticelli out of all of his paintings, he adored The Birth of Venus the most; but many of his adorers also really enjoyed Primavera. The Medici family told Botticelli to paint The Birth of Venice in 1446. He thought that there was some touch of art in The Birth of Venus that made it so beautiful and unique. Sandro’s art many things that society loved, perspective and anatomy art mixed together with religion as well. Botticelli had an interest in making paintings about Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. He also loved doing oil paintings and he specialized in that area. His painting seems to us like that there is a guy and girl are blowing a girl on a clam shell boat to shore where another girl can put some clothes on her.

Analysis of Greatest Piece of Art:

We feel that what makes this painting so authentic is the fact that Botticelli thought about every single detail, from the waves in the water to Venus’s hair. It is a very enlightening piece of art that makes the impossible seem possible. We feel very happy for Venus to be able to reach shore soon so that she can be dressed. Venus seems like an angel that is being sent from God to spread love and live a humanistic life. Venus is being blown to shore by the zephyrs on her big clam boat. She is standing in a position where she can fall any second, but clearly God is on her side since she hasn’t fallen yet. At shore there is a girl just waiting for her arrival to wrap Venus in a very carefully designed cloth. This may or may not be a factor, but we think that the cloth is red because Venus is the goddess of love, and love is represented by the colour red. This painting means to me that with every step you take in life, there always will be someone that is helping you, whether you know it or not. You cannot do anything in life as an individual without someone helping you out. Venus was created in the ocean, but God was the one who created her. Then the zephyrs brought her to shore on the clam boat by blowing to push her in the right direction. God made sure she didn’t fall off the boat. Then there was a girl at the shore to wrap her in a cloth. Every step of the way, someone helped her, whether she knew it or not. A way we can relate our analysis of The Birth of Venus to m life would be when you get a job. When you get a job you think that you did everything by yourself, went around and handed out your resumes. Actually, your boss was the one that hired you, your parents were the ones that guided you about the whole job experience, and without either of them, you wouldn’t have a job.
